Maša Andoljšek, a PhD student at the Department of Molecular Biology and Nanobiotechnology, National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenija attended the Instruct-ERIC Course on Calorimetric and Spectroscopic Characterization of Biomolecules that was held from 7th to 11th September 2026 at CEITEC Masaryk Universityg in Brno, Czech Republic. The course provided theoretical and hands-on training in key biophysical techniques for studying biomolecular structure, stability and interactions, including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), circular dichroism (CD), and fluorescence spectroscopy (FS). The programme combined lectures with practical sessions covering experimental design, sample preparation, measurements, data analysis and interpretation. A particularly valuable aspect was the opportunity for participants to perform measurements on their own samples.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to participate in this excellent course, which provided valuable practical experience and expanded my knowledge of biophysical characterization methods. I would highly recommend this opportunity to other researchers interested in biomolecular biophysics.
